This past weekend, hundreds of individuals gathered at the U.S.-Mexico border for “La Posada Sin Fronteras,” an event held each year at Christmastime at Friendship Park along the San Ysidro/Tijuana border. “La Posada” is a tradition that has been celebrated in Mexico going back as far as 400 years, where people go from door to door asking for lodging and being denied, recreating the journey of Joseph and Mary.

PLNU is an educational institution that has adopted a vision for outreach. The Ministry with Mexico is a component of that vision. The university has recently hired Esteban Trujillo as the Associate Director of International Ministries to coordinate Ministry with Mexico. Dr. Dave Cummings, professor of biology, and Dr. Ryan Botts, assistant professor of mathematics, were recently awarded a three-year grant from the National Institutes of Health. The grant will allow them to further study antibiotic resistance bacteria in the San Diego River and Tijuana Estuary wetlands.
