Sept. 24-28, Point Loma Nazarene University will celebrate its biannual Spiritual Renewal Week. The underlying theme of this week is the “inward journey” of heart-holiness and character transformation. Fall’s renewal week speaker is Rev. Dr. Corey McPherson. MacPherson began his current role as chaplain at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass. in 2008. A year later he was appointed to serve on the President’s Cabinet as Vice President of Spiritual Development and Church Relations. Prior to this, Corey founded and pastured North Shore Church of the Nazarene in Stony Brook, N.Y. (2000-2008).

McPherson earned his bachelor’s degree at ENC and then earned a master of divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary and a doctorate of ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary with an emphasis in preaching and worship. He is passionate about helping students on their spiritual journey and feels strongly about helping them stay connected to the local church throughout their college years and beyond.  His love for Christ is what motivates him to do what he does every day.

In recognition of a desire that each renewal week be experienced as a whole campus event, PLNU’s cabinet requested that all offices, stores and services on the main campus be closed during the morning chapel hours the week of September 24-28.
